There are times when it can be difficult or uncomfortable discussing issues specific to people of color. People sometimes find it difficult to address what it is like to be a person of color in the world, in their work place, social groups, issues between POC groups (colorism/shadeism, prejudice or discrimination specifically between members of the same race where people are regarded differently because of societal messages and meanings), identities as both a POC and another social minority group. It can even be uncomfortable or go completely un-addressed when a client is a different racial, ethnic, or religious identity than their therapist.

I am experienced in and committed to addressing these issues and concerns with respect and a dedication to holding whatever discomfort (anger, confusion) may arise in our conversations.
