Land Acknowledgment
I live and work on land that is the ancestral home of the Chitimacha, Houma Nation, and Choctaw Nation, among other Indigenous peoples who have stewarded this region for generations.
I acknowledge the enduring presence, resilience, and cultural contributions of Indigenous communities whose relationships to this land long predate colonization and continue today. I also recognize that the history of this place includes displacement, erasure, and ongoing inequities experienced by Native communities.
As a mental health professional committed to justice, dignity, and belonging, I offer this acknowledgment as one small act of awareness and respect, and as an invitation to remain mindful of the histories and peoples connected to the land where we live and work.
